Experiences in Tattoo Art
The first time I decided to get a tattoo was in short, a thrilling experience. From deciding what design I wanted to searching for the right tattoo artist to create it, the process was extensive. Eventually, I was able to craft a exceptional full-arm wrap of a forest scene; this design came from my deep-seated adoration for the outdoors and the peace that nature brings me. The tattoo was a major commitment for my first one, but the result was exactly what I had envisioned.
Walking into the tattoo parlor on my first day, I was immediately welcomed by my artist, Jordi Pla, an incredibly talented and kind person. We discussed the art, cleaned the area to make sure it was sanitary, and Jordi placed the individual tree stencils to display the proper placement. As the needle touched my skin, I felt excited for the pain, knowing it would result in a beautiful tattoo. Throughout the entire 13 hours of the first day, Jordi worked diligently to ensure each detail was flawless. The next day, I went back to Jordi to finish the artwork, wrapping the tattoo afterwards, and providing me with the necessary aftercare instructions.
The desire to get a tattoo had been brewing on my mind for a while. After going through the process and making sure it was exactly as I had imagined, I decided to add more to the original piece and had it turned into a full sleeve that covered parts of my back and shoulder. This entire experience has been rewarding, to say the least.
Humans have been decorating their bodies with markings for many centuries; some believe that the oldest existing human tattooed to date is an iceman, discovered on the Italian-Austrian border, who was determined to have been alive 5,200 years ago. Markings were created to show amulets, status symbols, expressions of love, religious beliefs, embellishments, and even acts of punishment. As for my tattoos, they are personal, inspired by my love of nature since childhood, and a religious representation of my faith.
